NTR and Puri Jagan have teamed up for the action drama ‘Temper’. The film is coming in with very high expectations after NTR’s new look and style created a storm on social networks. Can the film live up to the hype? Let us find out.
AP Trendz Rating : 3.5/5
Story :
Inspector Daya (NTR) is a very corrupt police officer. He believes in making tons of money by leveraging his capacity as a cop. An unhappy childhood shapes his thought process and makes him believe that money is everything in life.
His corrupt activities upset his subordinate, constable Murthy (Posani). But there is not much he can do. Daya goes about minting money by joining hands with Valther Vasu (Prakash Raj), a smuggler based in Vizag.
A chance encounter with Madhurima exposes Daya to a very disturbing act of crime. His whole world breaks down around him when he realises that his corrupt deeds aided the rape and torture of a young woman.
Deeply ashamed with himself, Daya takes a decision that requires the ultimate form of sacrifice. What does he do? How does he bring the criminals to justice? That is what this film is all about.
Plus Points :
- In Temper, you get to see NTR like never before. While the new style, new body language and new look are all assets, it is NTR the performer who steals the show. He has not given this level of performance after Yamadonga.
- Kajal does not have much to do in the film but she looks gorgeous. Prakash Raj has done a decent job as the Don Valther Vasu.
- The twist in the second half will catch you off guard. You just don’t see that coming. After the police station fight, the film takes off and the tempo has been sustained right till the end.
- Posani Krishna Murali is a major asset for this movie. As the unhappy constable Murthy, he complements NTR perfectly and his scenes act as the catalyst for the emotional scenes in the film.
- NTR’s dance in Temper title song is a treat for fans. Scenes from NTR’s ‘Kondaveeti Simham’, Harikrishna’s ‘Seethayya’ and Balayya’s ‘Rowdy Inspector’ will keep them happy.
Minus Points :
- The first half is a weak link. It could have easily hurt the film. The romantic scenes between NTR and Kajal have not been handled well. Lack of entertainment in the first half is also a handicap
- Puri needs to keep his penchant for vulgar elements in check. They may make family viewers uncomfortable .
Technical Aspects :
Puri Jagan comes into his element in the second half. Backed by a strong script, he has succeeded in extracting a terrific performance from NTR. But his handling of the first half is not very good. Sekhar has done a good job with the editing.
Mani Sharma’s background score is a major asset for the film. He has elevated the crucial emotional scenes in the second half. Anoop Rubens has given an ok album.
Verdict :
‘Temper ‘ is an emotional action entertainer that NTR carries home with his phenomenal performance in the second half. However, the first half could have been better. For NTR fans, this movie will be something they can feel proud of.
