About 10 passengers died and over 100 other were injured after 9 coaches of Bangalore-Ernakulam Intercity Express derailed at 7.35 am Today near Tamil Nadu-Karnataka border.

Bangalore-Ernakulam Express left Bengaluru at 6:15 am and got derailed within 1 hr 20 minutes between Anekal Road and Hosur, that's about 45 km from Bangalore. The accident took place after the train hit a boulder which fell on the track.

Police and Medical Teams have been carrying out the relief and rescue operations. PM Narendra Modi expressed condolences, "Saddened by the loss of lives due to derailing of Bangalore-Ernakulam express. Condolences to the families of the deceased".
