Yuvraj Singh set to replace Ravindra Jadeja in India squad for 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup?

All-rounder Yuvraj Singh is set to replace Ravindra Jadeja if the Saurashtra all-rounder fails to recover in time for the upcoming ICC World Cup to be held in Australia and New Zealand. According to reports in India Today, the Punjab southpaw who has been in sensational form in the ongoing Ranji Trophy is the favourite to replace Ravindra Jadeja in the squad.

Ravindra Jadeja suffered a shoulder injury during the ongoing India-Australia series and is set to recover completely by January 20, if the rehabilitation goes on as expected. However, he is set to miss the tri-series involving India, Australia and England following the Test series

Indian selectors will pick the squad for the tri-series and the 15-member team for the World Cup on January 6. Yuvraj Singh was out of favour for a long time as he, along with other senior players of the side – Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Harbhajan singh and Zaheer Khan weren’t picked in the 30-man preliminary squad.

Yuvraj’s name was also dropped from the Broad of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) central contract list. However, he hit three back-to-back centuries in the ongoing Ranji Trophy to stake a claim in the side for the World Cup. Yuvraj, a veteran of 293 One-Day Internationals (ODI), has scored 8,329 runs at an average of 36.37. He was also the Man of the Tournament in the previous edition of the ICC World Cup.
